Lesson from a Mouse

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you; but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to an old ewe and told her, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The wise old ewe sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse; but there is nothing I can do about it. Be assured you are in my thoughts."

The mouse turned to the cow and said, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house--like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught; and the snake bit the farmer's wife! The farmer rushed her to the hospital, and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the old sheep.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and you're tempted to think it doesn't concern you, remember: when one of us is burdened down, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

Mousey FUN *_*

My Mother and I were sitting on the swing under the oak tree behind our house one day, and she began to chuckle. She said that when she was a teenager, she remembers talking with one of her friends about the "what ifs" of space travel. NASA was talking about sending rockets to the moon...sending monkeys, rabbits, mice...maybe men someday! But she and her friend started wondering what would happen if they sent a mouse. I mean, the moon is fabled to be made of cheese, right? So the mouse would gobble up the moon! You'd look up in the sky and see a giant MOUSE! And what would that do to all of the romantic songs?

Mouse River?
By the Light of the Silvery Mouse??
Mouse Over Miami???
Blue Mouse????

I would like this to be a spot where you can sit and read about interesting books that I have read, enjoyed, and even "gleaned" from.

#1, The Holy Bible.

Well, of course I have to include the books I WROTE here now!!!
The first, second, and third--
No Accident,
Our Refuge,
A Time of War
are already in print,
and the 4th Never Forsaken is due out soon, praise the LORD!
The Bennett Vignettes
A Historical series of enduring romance.
Based in Baltimore, Maryland, the series begins in the late 1880's.

"Beautiful for Thee" from the Sword of the LORD Jubilees for Women has been a special blessing to me for YEARS. There is even a chapter on being single, which I had read while still single and just re-read and still get a blessing from!! For example:

p. 75, "You can't control what people are going to say to you, but you can control the way you respond to it."

p. 81, "There are going to be times when you are simply overwhelmed. Psalm 142:3 says, 'When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path.' The only way to handle those experiences is to immediately lift your heart in praise and adoration to the LORD, to tell Him once more than you love Him and that He is all you need. There will come a very sweet realization of your loving Protector and Friend."

Those are both very God-honoring pieces of advice, whether single or married! And we can also use this chapter to singles to better council those who are single. But the whole book is filled with blessing after blessing, pointing the reader to God and to being "beautiful" for Him, not just ourselves or even our spouses, for our heavenly Bridegroom *_*

A book I would DEFINITELY recommend:
"Quality Friendship" by Gary Inrig
Some quotes...p. 26:
"A friend is someone committed to help his friend realize God's purpose and potential for his life."
The book uses the Bible friendship of David & Jonathan as an example throughout of what a godly friendship should be.
Another quote...from p. 65:
"No human friend, whatever his gifts,
can be what only God can be to us."
& p. 94: "We will not always be there in a time of need,
but He will be."

One of my favorite authors is Lori Wick. Her historical fiction I have quite a collection of, and I enjoy reading them again and again! She has the gospel woven throughout her stories, which I have done in the books I have written. I think it would be safe to say that Jane Austen is a favorite authoress of both Lori Wick and myself, as I have seen both style and name similarities in her books *_*

Here is my favorite, the English Garden Series. I'm hoping for one more story, marrying off a fellow I really think would make a great father and husband; but she says she's finished with this series *_*

L Wick English Garden Series

FYI - I'm sorry to say that I cannot across the board recommend all of Lori Wick's books, as many of her more "current" stories contain quotes from bibles credited to men rather than the Author of the Holy Bible, Who is God. But The English Garden Series, set in Victorian England, uses The Holy Bible for all Scripture references.

3c Graphics

I've read Tim LaHaye & Jerry B. Jenkins' "Left Behind" Series...WOW. Talk about something that will make you get out and win souls!!! When you read these, realizing that those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will suffer these terrible, biblically foretold trials, you'll be a more fervent witness, too!! But I must say, the best Book to inspire you to share the Gospel with others is The Holy Bible *_* Daniel, Revelation, Zechariah, Isaiah.... Powerful reading inspired by God. But "Left Behind" is good writing, and inspiring though not plenary inspiration!

Here are the "covers":

New York Times Best Seller List, June 3rd, 2007
Hardcover Nonfiction
#1 - "God Is Not Great"
by Christopher Hitchens
"Religion as a malignant force in the world"

A few of the verses that prove Hitchens a well-paid and nationally-renowned liar:

Exodus 18:11
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Deuteronomy 3:24
O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

Deuteronomy 4:7
For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

Deuteronomy 10:17 & 21
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

Deuteronomy 32:3
Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

II Samuel 7:22
Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

I Chronicles 16:25
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

Nehemiah 1:5
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Nehemiah 8:6
And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

Nehemiah 9:17
And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

Job 36:26
Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

Job 37:5
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

Psalm 48:1
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Psalm 66:3
Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

Psalm 77:13
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

Psalm 86:10
For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.

Psalm 96:4
For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

Psalm 104:1
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Psalm 135:5
For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Jeremiah 32:18
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

Ezekiel 36:23
And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

Daniel 9:4
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Hebrews 4:14
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Hebrews 6:13
For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

I John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Final statement?
National Best-selling author C. Hitchens?
Not so great.
But we can always pray that he will come to know our great God and His love *_*

Jennifer M. Seest - a virtually unknown author who will praise the great God in every book she is privileged to write!!!!!

8/23/05 - I just did a look-see at the New York Times Best Sellers List for the 3rd week of August. At number one in Hardcover fiction sits The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown, as has been the case for nearly a year.

Ummm...note of interest....
The Da Vinci Code has sold millions of copies. Hey, NYT, done a tally of how many Holy Bibles have been purchased since 1611??

One of the best Christian write-ups on the subject I found at Far Eastern Bible College. Please, if you are a Christian, do not pour money into this godless apostate's pockets by purchasing this heretical book! Although Brown's book is listed in "fiction", his interviews on top TV News morning shows touts that, aside from the fictional characters, the book is TRUTH. I do hope he comes to recognize the real Truth (John 14:6) before it is eternally too late, but I fear that what he has written in attempts to make money by publishing mega-controversial heresy will leave millions of curious, amusement- and pleasure-worshipping Americans in the dark...eternally.

During the Seest & Friends Baby Boom of the late '90's, I inserted a blurb here for a pair of books called "Baby-Wise"...very, very helpful books about getting wee ones into a regular routine to regulate their sleeping/eating patterns. WHAT A HELP!
