I'll Be Home for Christmas

The Story Behind the Song....

In 1943 the world was at war, and many thousands of American men and women in the service would be spending Christmas far from home. As a special gift to them and their families came this lovely, tender ballad, recorded by Bing Crosby.

Wanting a bit more depth to this sentimental song of American history, I have added a line or two *_* Anyone who has every been away from home or had a loved one away from home at Christmas time, this goes out to you with MUCH love...and hot cocoa....

I'll be home for Christmas;
You can count on me.
Please have snow and mistletoe,
And presents on the tree.

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love-light gleams,
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams....

I'll be home for Christmas;
You'll be there with me.
We won't be blue, we'll read Luke 2,
And cuddle by the tree.

If folks ask about me
Tell them I'll be there.
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my prayers....
