The
Light of the World
is JESUS!

Last Updated: 12/6/6

This was our "theme" for our Christmas page in '99!

SO much happened in 1999...Daniel came home from his first WESTPAC, Lydia was born! We moved cross-continent from Hawaii to Georgia! We bought a HOUSE *_*...it was a busy year, and FILLED with blessings! But through it all, and throughout the holidays especially, I was blessed mostly in remembering that the Light of the World is JESUS!

John 8:12 & 9:5 tell us,
"Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

&

"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Every Christmas for as far back as I can remember, the one thing that stands out in my memory is the beauty of Christmas lights! The twinkling, glowing, colorful lights that make the whole world seem to sparkle! Jesus told us that He was the Light of the world...WOW. He is that One Who can and should attract us. And His light shining through us who are born again should attract others to Him!

Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus tells His disciples,
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

What does that mean to you?
To me, it means that the Light of the World, my LORD & Saviour Jesus Christ, should show so clearly in my life that I should attract others to want what I have in Him. He is the LIGHT. I am the LIGHT through Him.

Keep this in mind when you see all the beautiful lights this Christmas...
Is YOUR Light shining??

The Light of the World is Jesus

Philip P. Bliss

1. The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin:
The Light of the World is Jesus;
Like sunshine at noonday His glory shone in,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

2. No darkness have we who in Jesus abide,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
We walk in the Light when we follow our Guide,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

3. Ye dwellers in darkness with sin-blinded eyes,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
Go, wash at His bidding, and light will arise,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

4. No need of the sunlight in heaven, we're told,
The Light of the World is Jesus;
The Lamb is the Light in the City of Gold,
The Light of the World is Jesus.

CHORUS: Come to the Light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me;
Once I was blind, but now I can see;
The Light of the World is Jesus.

I Saw the Light

1. I wandered so aimless, my life filled with sin.
I wouldnít let the dear Saviour in.
Then Jesus came and washed me pure and white.
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light!

CHORUS: I saw the Light! I saw the Light!
No more darkness, no more night!
Now Iím so happy, no sorrow in sight!
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light!

I was so foolish to wander and stray.
Straight is the gate and narrow the way.
Now I have traded my wrong for His right;
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light!

CHORUS: I saw the Light! I saw the Light!
No more darkness, no more night!
Now Iím so happy, no sorrow in sight!
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light!

Light of the World verses:

John 1:9, That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

John 3:19, And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 8:12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 9:5, As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

John 11:9, "Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

John 12:46, I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

II Corinthians 4:4, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

And these joyous words are from the mouth of Simeon, the man who was given the gift of seeing the face of Messiah in his lifetime. Luke 2: 28-32, "Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

I LOVE this artwork:

Mine eyes have seen Thy salvation!

Do you see the map of the world in the background?
This passage means more and more to me. A man of God blessed with answered prayer of SEEING Messiah face to face in his lifetime! And though Simeon was a devout Jew, he knew Messiah, and he knew that Messiah was not just for the Jews, but born to be GOD'S SALVATION and a Light to the Gentiles! That's ME!

I do not know the artist! If you do, could you please E-mail Me?
