Anne's Theme
by Haygood Hardy
The photo above is of my sister Joann,
our Mother Joan,
and myself
at a Mother/Daughter's Banguet.

Join me!

I invite you to sit a spell with me,
Share a cup (or glass *_*) of tea,
maybe some "crumpets" to go with!!,
and spend some time thinking of your dear sisters!

Just a little cup and saucer
Sitting there upon the shelf.
Remembering what we've been through
I smile despite myself!

The countless chilly winter morns
I've poured a cuppa tea
And had my quiet time "alone":
My teacup, God, & me.

The precious friends who've shared their hearts,
That teacup in their hands....
How much that fellowship has meant,
Our Father understands!

Please disregard the faded rose,
The gold trim worn and smudged;
Those things increase its value
If through it a heart is touched!

I've never made a fortune
And it's prob'ly too late now;
But I don't worry 'bout that much,
I'm happy anyhow!

And as I go along life's way
Reapin' better than I sowed.
I'm drinkin' from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed!

Haven't got a lot of riches,
And sometimes the going's tough;
But I've got loving ones around me,
And that makes me rich enough!

I thank God for His blessings
And the mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinkin' from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed!

I 'member times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin;
But all at once the dark clouds broke
And light peeped through again.

So, Lord, help me not to gripe
About tough rows I've hoed.
I'm drinkin' from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed!

If God gives me strength and courage
When the way grows steep and rough,
I'll not ask for other blessings;
I'm already blessed enough!

May I never be too busy
To help others bear their loads.
I'll keep drinkin' from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed!

the same is my brother,

"A Sister is someone who hears
the song in my heart
And sings it to me
when my memory fails...."

Remember the teakettle:
when it's up to its neck in hot water,
~Early American Folk Wisdom~

Necessi-TEA is the mother of invention... In 1904, "iced tea" was invented
at the St. Louis World's Fair
when an extreme heat wave
caused patrons to forsake their customary cup of tea.
In desperation, tea vendors added ice
and offered it as a summer cooler.
The rest, as they say, is history!!

The Perfect Pitcher of Sweetened Iced Tea!

Now, I'm not being boastful here, folks.
I have really hit upon a foolproof process
for making absolutely scrumptious iced tea!
First, fill a tea kettle with water (approx. 2 quarts).
DON'T bring it to a boil...ah, the difference
taught to me by a very kind British lady!
Bring the water to the point where the tiny bubbles
begin to form on the bottom of the kettle.
For some reason, this makes for a much smoother tea.
Add one family-sized tea bag and one or two regular-sized spice tea
(not necessarily herbal...my favorites are
Cinnamon Spice Tea,
Orange Spice Tea,
Blueberry Harvest,
& French Vanilla Tea...
some are flavored black teas).
Steep for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than an hour.
Pour into a gallon pitcher, and stir in 1/2 to 1 cup sugar
(I use brown sugar...no bleach side-dishes, please!)
Add cold water to make a gallon.
Stir well and refrigerate.
*The longer it's in the fridge, the sweeter it becomes.
That's not a problem with us as the two of us can go through a gallon in a day or two!!
Also, you can pour yourself a cup-full and heat it
for a VERY smooth, though totally improper, cuppa tea!!

1/8/Y2K~Oh YUMMMMM! A must share flavor to use with the above recipe:
Nutcracker Sweet from Celestial Seasonings!
My twin-sis-in-law Katie sent me some after getting me
completely HOOKED on it at her home in September!!

And THIS year (11/01), Katie introduced me to Celestial Seasonsings latest Christmas Tea -- Gingerbread Spice!!! INCREDIBLE.... It's available at their online catalog!!!

10/30/Y2K~HOORAY! Bigelow Tea now has French Vanilla Tea! Now I'm just hoping for them to come out with a decaf version...!

10/30/Y2K~BIG TIME Hooray!!!!!!!
Coffee Kraze Cafe has Bencheley's French Vanilla Decaf!!!!!!!!
You can order some online!

"It feels so good to have a friend,
One on whom you can depend.
A friend can help to mend a heart,
Boost you t'ward a fresh, new start,
Laugh with carefree, schoolgirl glee,
Share a quiet cup of tea."

Daniel & I decided to take as a "theme" for 1998,
perhaps mostly because of the many trying times we knew we had ahead of us that year.
I would like this page to be a place where my sisters can reflect
on how the LORD has blessed each of us.
Please feel free to sign our guestbook with what you are thankful to the LORD for,
and let what others write be an encouragement to you!

If you'd like to see the words I wrote to "Anne's Theme" (the song playing in the background), visit HERE...it was part of our wedding music *_*

The awards I've received have been such an encouragement
that I thought I'd try giving out my OWN award!
Thank you Susan, Dj, Annie, Denice, Debbie, Leah, Gina, and SO MANY OTHERS!!! for being YOU on the Internet!
