Never Forsaken
A Historical Novel of Enduring Romance
Book IV in The Bennett Vignettes

Never Forsaken Cover *_*
The saga of getting this 4th book in the Bennett Vignettes PUBLISHED!!!

I received this from Publish America September 28th, 2006--the morning of my 40th birthday.

Dear Ms. Seest:

Thank you for your submission of Never Forsaken to PublishAmerica.

Based on the sales performance of your previously published book(s), we cannot offer a contract for this work at this time. Please do not take this as a setback to all your hard work as a writer. We are sure you will find a publisher to fit your needs for this book.

We wish you the best of luck.

Sincerely,
Acquisitions Department
PublishAmerica

========================

Well, I'm sure as you must guess this is a definite OUCH for me and my book ministry. I have been praying right along though that the LORD would lead in clear ways.

I am praying that this is a very temporary setback, but I have no assurance of that. Please pray with me that if the LORD wills, a Christian publisher will pick me up as a contracted author.

Thank you so much, those of you who have so faithfully read, prayed, and encouraged.

========================

Well, I thought to myself, I'm not going to quit so easily. The LORD has blessed in this endeavor, and if only to give HIM glory, I will not just quit because they don't think I'm a big seller (which was never my goal, but don't tell them!)

SO, I am asking those of you who have read Our Refuge and/or A Time of War and have not as yet written a review at Publish America, to please consider doing so.

Go here:
Publish America
and under "search" type in Seest. It'll take you to both books. If you can, please write a review for each of them *_* I am actually hoping Publish America reconsiders.

I will sent the following e-mail out that evening. A barrage of positive reviews could really help my cause, which would really help my ministry and be a tremendous blessing to my heart.

Thank you so much~

Jennifer

E-MAIL I SENT 9/28/06 PM TO PUBLISH AMERICA:

I was greatly saddened by the e-mail I opened from you this morning...on my 40th birthday, rejecting my book "Never Forsaken" "based on sales performance of previously published book(s)". Although I do not have thousands of sales, I do have hundreds...of sales and more importantly of readers. I purchase the books myself and sign and send them to local buyers, people around the country, and even to overseas destinations. Thus, the vast majority of book orders are not through PublishAmerica but through me, the books I've personally ordered through PA. I do this, cutting the author profit considerably, so that the books are more easily affordable for my readers.

This has been a very tough year for me physically, a portion of the year spent literally bedridden. I have been physically unable to advertise, hold book signings, or do interviews of any kind to sell my books. Yet still, I have sold hundreds of copies. That has been the blessing of the LORD.

Have you read the reviews on both "Our Refuge" and "A Time of War" on your site? I trust you noticed that the readers/reviewers are from coast to coast in America, as well as Canada and Japan. I also have readers in England, Ireland, Mexico, Norway, and several countries in Africa.

I have been very pleased with Publish America. I have enjoyed working with your people--from acquisitions to sales--who have been very professional. The quality as well as the content of my books has received very positive feedback from my readers. I love the fact that Publish America is based in Baltimore, Maryland, where The Bennett Vignettes series is based. I love that my country -- AMERICA -- is in the title of your company, being a Navy wife and a praying, patriotic American.

I and many, many of my readers sincerely hope that you will reconsider and continue to publish my books.

Jennifer M. Seest

========================

Please, if you have read Our Refuge and/or A Time of War, please help me if you would by posting a review for Our Refuge and A Time of War at Publish America.

========================

Well...the last word from Publish America was that I need to make more sales before they will publish Never Forsaken. Xulon Press, the publisher of No Accident, will publish Never Forsaken for $1,300. That is why we went with Publish America though. I totally understand Publish America's reasoning. They make their money on sales of the books, not up front from the author. So....

Okay then, bottom line: the best way to get Never Forsaken published is book sales, which would either help me raise enough money for Xulon or cause Publish America to consider publishing Never Forsaken *_* No Accident, Our Refuge, and A Time of War all make wonderful gifts as well as edifying and enjoyable reading for the purchaser. I even had one reader who bought one for a present for his mother-in-law, read a chapter...had to finish the book and buy a second one for the gift *_*

But whether you can afford to purchase a copy or not, I ask that you would PRAY that the LORD would be honored through this book-writing ministry. One soul has already come to know the LORD through one of the sermons included in the books! PRAISE THE LORD! And I've heard from so many, many readers who have been encouraged in their Christian walk through these vignettes. Again, PRAISE THE LORD! And please, pray that He would be honored and glorified.

**POSTED 11/15/07**

Please be praying with me! I just this morning resubmitted Never Forsaken - book 4 of The Bennett Vignettes - to Publish America. The manuscript was refused in September of 2006, "based on the sales performance of your previously published book(s)". We still cannot afford the $1,500 to publish with Xulon Press, our publisher for No Accident.

Thank you!
Jennifer

I received this in the e-mail from PublishAmerica 11/28:

So...I will keep praying for God's blessing with sales of No Accident, Our Refuge, and A Time of War. Either enough will be sold for PublishAmerica to eventually publish Never Forsaken, or we'll make enough to go with Xulon or another company...or I'll take it as from the Lord's hand and shelve my book writing ministry indefinitely. Whatever He wants is what I want *_*

With love~
Jennifer

Although it will be a blessing to my heart for folks to keep ordering, giving, and reading my first 3 books, the LORD has provided a way for me to have Never Forsaken published!!!!!!!

Praise GOD, from Whom ALL blessings flow!!!!!
