This is a "just because" page...
just because flowers are so beautiful...
just because I love God's creation...
just because I want to share some favorite
"Garden Passages" with you.
Enjoy!!

"Normal" day, help me always be aware
of what a blessing you are!

I'd much prefer some flowers now
From folks who are my friends
Than big bouquets and baskets full
When my life-journey ends.

The tiny bunch of violets
A toddler gives to me
I prize more than a great van-load
I cannot smell or see.

I'd rather have some kindly smiles
In life (they're needed often)
Than all the long-faced cheerlessness
That's seen around a coffin.

I'd rather have kind word or deed
While they my life will cheer
Than, "We'll miss her," "I knew her when...."
When I'm no longer here!

Life is a garden;
Good friends are the flowers,
And time spent together
Life's happiest hours!
And frienship, like flowers,
Blooms ever more fair
When carefully tended
By dear friends who care.

Life began in a garden....

Even as a little girl I loved FLOWERS!!
Here I am (about 40 years ago!!)
with one of Momma's white irises!

In my garden, I have SEVERAL beautiful irises planted!!

Lydia
Little Lydia loves flowers, too!!!
Summer Y2K

If I had to choose a favorite flower...NO!
I can't limit it to one!
Frankly, I even find some of God's "weeds"
to be quite lovely!
Daniel teases me about liking
morning glories...
to the point of planting them *_*
They ARE weeds to him!
BUT, in 2006 bought me 2 packets
to plant around our fence in the Spring!!
(Can't help loving that man of mine!!)

Some FAVORITES are:
obviously, VIOLETS, both purple ones
& white ones with purple tips *_*;
white roses with pink tips
& pink roses;
and purple irises.

One of several beautiful iris & sheep crosstitch pretties from my precious friend Tawnja!
This adorns my kitchen, which is decorated in...

Tend your God-given friendships with
the tender-loving care you would give your flower garden;
and the blossom of those friendships will bloom eternal!

And the LORD shall guide thee continually,
and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones:
and thou shalt be like a watered garden,
and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Isaiah 58:11

Thy Word is like a garden, Lord, with flowers bright and fair;
And everyone who seeks may pluck a lovely cluster there.
Thy Word is like a deep, deep mine; and jewels rich and rare
Are hidden in its mighty depths for every searcher there!

Thy Word is like a starry host: a thousand rays of light
Are seen to guide the traveler and make his pathway bright.
Thy Word is like an armory, where soldiers may repair
And find, for lifeís long battle day, all needful weapons there.

Oh, may I love Thy precious Word, may I explore the mine,
May I Its fragrant flowers glean, may light upon me shine!
Oh, may I find my armor there! Thy Word my trusty Sword,
Iíll learn to fight with ev'ry foe the battle of the Lord!

~Edwin Hodder~

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others
cannot keep it from themselves.
--James Barrie--

My beautiful Momma in one of her gardens...
Spring '87
She brought "Son-shine" into many lives.

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth;
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on Earth!

This is my idea of SPRING!!!
Growing up in Florida,
one of the most lovely floral displays was that of the azalea,
with the dogwood accenting like baby's breath!

Pensacola Christian College,

In the Garden

by C. Austin Miles, 1868-1946
I come to the garden alone,
while the dew is still on the roses;
and the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
the Son of God discloses.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
and the melody that He gave to me
within my heart is ringing.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
though the night around me be falling;
but He bids me go--thru the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.

(Chorus) And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
and He tells me I am His own;
and the joy we share as we tarry there,
none other has ever known.

"Where you tend a rose, a thistle canna grow."
From The Secret Garden

Funny thing:
We had a 6 foot tall privacy fence around the perimeter of our backyard from '99-'02,
and the portion of fence nearest our back porch
is COVERED with wisteria vine!!
I was SOOO excited to see it bloom,
but when I got back from vacation,
there was only one flower!!!
Or so I thought...
All the blooms were on
the OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE!!

Bloom where you're planted!

And for you fellow MILITARY wives out there...
where you are TRANSplanted, too *_*
