So, You Want to See Something REALLY Scary? FEAR THIS...

How often to we hear phrases like that? Much of the movie industry capitalizes on "fear thrills". During the month of October, t.v. and cable viewers are innundated with scary commercials and programs. Some can be pretty scary. What I'm about to tell you about is far more frightening, because it is REAL.

What is the scariest thing you ever saw? Something real-life frightening? A lot of us would have to say the pictures of the death and destruction on 9/11/01. Terrorism has the root word TERROR for a reason. But as scary as that was, what I'm about to tell you about is a far more frightening reality, one that everyone who refuses God's loving and merciful plan of salvation will face.

There is a phrase down South that I'd like to share. "That'll put the fear of God in ya." That's what I want to do right now. I want to put the fear of God in all of us. I want the reader who maybe did a search and stumbled in here thinking, "Scary stuff. Cool!" to know the fear of God after reading this page. I want the Christian who doesn't share the Gospel to know the fear of God for his lost family, friends, and neighbors after reading this page. Why? Because this is something really, really scary. And it's real. It's very, very real.

Matthew 10:28, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Hell is a real place. It is the waiting place of the unsaved dead, where they are condemned to wait until the Great White Throne Judgment, when they will be--according to the Holy Bible--bound hand and foot and cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity.

I've heard it. "I'm gonna party with my friends! I don't wanna be with you goody-goody folks anyhow!" Or how about those all-American, easy going folks who say things like, "I'm a basically good person, doing my best. You believe what you want to believe, I'll believe what I want to believe. I'll be okay!" Oh really? Let me answer my own question. NO, that is not reality. If you reject God's plan of salvation, that Truth of His only begotten Son's precious blood washing your sin away through faith and repentance, then this is your future, my friend.

Those in Hell are banished from the Lord's presence 'til Judgment Day.

II Thessalonians 1:9, "Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

Hell is a place of darkness.

Revelation 9:2, "And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit."

II Peter 2:4, "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;"

Hell is a place of torment - "extreme pain or anguish of body or mind"

Luke 16:23, "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments...."

Luke 16:24, "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."

Luke 16:25, "But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."

Luke 16:28, "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."

Hell is down.

Proverbs 15:24, "The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath."

Isaiah 14:9, "Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations."

Isaiah 14:15, "Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."

Matthew 11:23, "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day."

Hell is in the Earth.

Numbers 16:30, "But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD."

Hell was originally created as a place for the Devil and his angels, not for mankind.

Matthew 25:41, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

Hell and the Lake of Fire are places of everlasting punishment, beginning at the point of physical death and lasting eternally.

Matthew 25:41, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

Hell is a pit, a smoking furnace.

Matthew 13:42, "And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 13:50, "And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

In this furnace dwell horrible, locust-like, stinging creatures.

Revelation 9:2, "And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit."

Hell is a place of unending torment, unquenchable thirst, and inescapable memories.

Luke 16:22-31

" 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
"

Hell is a place of unquenched fire, where the physical body will dwell.

Mark 9:42-44

" 42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
"

Hell is a furnace of fire, where there will be gnashing of teeth and wailing - lamenting, audible cries of sorrow and bitterness.

Matthew 13:38-42

" 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
"

Matthew 13:49 & 50, "So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Hell, then the Lake of Fire, are places of everlasting fire and burning.

Isaiah 33:14, "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"

Following the Great White Throne Judgment, the unsaved will be thrown bound into the fire.

Revelation 20:10-15

" 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Matthew 10:28, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Good deeds won't keep you out of Hell. Praying some repetitious words won't keep you out (or get anyone else out of this tormentous waiting pit either). The only way to keep yourself or others from going to this horrible, horrible place prepared for the Devil and his angels is SALVATION.

Acts 4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus didn't say, "I am a way." There is no other way. THE Way was provided by Jesus' death at Calvary. We choose His plan of salvation by GRACE through FAITH--salvation from sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, confessing and repenting of our sin...agreeing with God that the only way to Him is the Way He Himself provided (John 3:16). Anyone who tells you there is another way to Heaven is lying. If they believe it themselves, then they are lying to themselves. Sincere in their belief that they can get to Heaven by good works or some other way? They're sincerely WRONG.

"You're not being very kind." Oh? Is it kind to keep my mouth closed about the Truth? No. That would be the worst unkindness in the universe, to know the Truth and not to share it with anyone and everyone I can. Most of my homepage is PLUS PLUS, as my Momma used to say *_* If you look up "heaven" and look up "hell" in a concordance, you will find heaven mentioned many more times than hell is in Scripture! But although there is in fact a Heaven to be gained, there is a Hell to be shunned.

John 3:36, He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Let me ask you a question. If you were to die of a heart attack while sitting there at your computer, would you--like the rich man in Scripture--lift up your eyes in Hell, being in torment? You DO NOT need to pay the price for your own sin. Jesus Christ paid that price IN FULL at Calvary. All you need do is through faith accept the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ the Lord!

Please, read these Bible verses on salvation for yourself:
God's Plan of Salvation

Mark 1:15 "... repent ye, and believe the gospel."
