9/23/3 -- Something SPECIAL....
This song has been a favorite of mine since college.
As a Mommy of two and now a Sunday School teacher,
I thought it was time to teach it to the children in our class.
But when I did a search, I realized how PERFECTLY
these graphics go with it!
SO
Here is the song, and the new "animated" graphic *_*

The Crayon Box Song

When I was just a little child no higher than your knee,
My mother bought a box of crayons, just for me.
I picked them up and I opened them up and I looked way down inside,
And the colors there reminded me of Jesus when He died.

O...Red is the color of the blood that He shed,
Brown is for the crown of thorns they laid upon His head.
Blue is for royalty! Within Him did dwell;
And yellow is for the Christian who's afraid to tell.

I colored and I colored 'til the crayons were all gone,
And though I am much older now, the mem'ry lingers on.
And when I see a little child with crayon box in hand,
I tell them what they mean to me and hope they'll understand.

O...Red is the color of the blood that He shed,
Brown is for the crown of thorns they laid upon His head.
Blue is for royalty! Within Him did dwell;
And yellow is for the Christian who's afraid to tell.

Afraid to tell of a Saviour who died on Calvary,
He died for lowly sinners just like you and me;
And someday soon He's coming back to be our King,
And the colors of the crayon box we will sing!

O...Red is the color of the blood that He shed,
Brown is for the crown of thorns they laid upon His head.
Blue is for royalty! Within Him did dwell;
And yellow is for the Christian who's afraid to tell.

So, don't you be a Christian, who's afraid to tell!

The Crayon Box Song!

The latest from Brother Mason, received Sunday August 14th, 2005

Thank you so much again for featuring my little Crayon Box Song on your web site. I get requests for the song every day from your site. The good news is that one of those who requested it, sent it back to me in the form of an electronic file. I can now honor e-mail requests by attaching it to a response e-mail and do it very quickly. Please let anyone wanting the music know this on the web page featuring the song. I am happy to honor any request for the song in this way. William V. Mason

When I first e-mailed the author to obtain permission,
I received this very nice reply!

Dan & Jennifer,

Nothing would delight me more than for you to post a page on your site dedicated to the simple attempt of a 17-year-old boy to express his newfound faith in Christ. As I sat on the porch of my sister's home while my mother read her Bible, this little song came to me. While in Bible college a young fellow who has a wonderful tenor voice and can really play the guitar took it to Nashville with him in 1969 and left with a contract with what was then the biggest Gospel music recording company in the world--Heartwarming/Impact Records. After his record was released, this little song took on a life of it's own, was published in sheet music, and spread throughout the country and around the world. I get several requests a week after these 38 years for copies. Four of them are now sitting in envelopes waiting to be mailed to those like yourself who grew up singing it.

Please feel free to publish it to your site. You may also provide my e-mail address, wmvmason@hotmail.com, for those who might like a copy at no charge. In fact, the song is experiencing a bit of a revival as Christians from all over are ordering copies and continue to sing it. All I ask is that you provide me with the link so that I can look at it once in awhile and thank God that He is still able to make so much of so little.

Regards, William V. Mason

9/24/3 -- When I e-mailed him about posting the words and making a graphic and midi file, he sent me back this precious e-mail:

Mrs. Seest,

Your beautiful page dedicated to that little song brought tears to my eyes. Not only does it capture the essence of the song with graphics and text, but the musical melody just blew me away. I could not be more delighted. In fact, you made me realize once again that "little is much when God is in it." It's really His song and has always been so.

If you think it would be an extra added benefit, please feel free to post a message on your site from me that I would be only too happy to send anyone who inquires a copy of the sheet music including lyrics. All they need to do is e-mail me and I will let them know where to send a self-addressed stamped envelope so that I can mail it to them.

Thanks again for posting the song to your site and giving it such a wonderful treatment. It meant more to me than you could possibly realize.

William V. Mason
